Advantage Basketball Camp Staff Requirements

Advantage Basketball Camps Counselors are some of the best basketball skills instructors in the country. Our main basketball camp staff must pass a rigorous screening and selection process in order to teach basketball skills and run our basketball camps and clinics. All of our top basketball camp staff has passed our three main basketball camp checklists.

Our Top Advantage Basketball Camp staff, must also meet stringent requirements ranging from drug testing to background checks. We also encourage our camp Counselors to take and pass emergency medical courses, such as those offered by the Red Cross.

Exceptional Basketball Skills Are Required

Each member of our basketball staff must demonstrate exceptional basketball skills. They “got to have game”. Each of our top basketball camp Counselors are playing, coaching or have played/coached at the college level.

We also use, as secondary help, some of the top high school players. These individuals come in as extra help for our younger campers and are part of our youth apprenticeship program.

Teaching Kids Requires Excellent Communication Skills

Each member of our basketball staff must be able to communicate well with the student campers. Counselors must be able to share their skill and knowledge of basketball in such a way that the young players can easily understand concepts and learn the physical skills. Each of our Top Counselors has been through extensive training in this area and has been part of our Apprenticeship Program for a minimum of 10 camps before being rated as a Top Counselor.

Counselors Lead By Example

Each member of our basketball staff must lead by example. Of course, they have to demonstrate exemplary behavior and skills on the court. More importantly, they must also must serve as examples in their lives beyond the basketball court. The campers must be able to view our Counselors as shining examples of what can be achieved if they are willing to work for it. Advantage Basketball Camps is proud to employ scholarship college players for its Top Counselors. To receive a scholarship they must demonstrate superior playing skills and also have high grades, a strong work ethic, integrity, and moral character. Advantage Basketball Camps is very blessed and honored that each of its top staff members live their lives based on strong Christian moral values. We are working with the future leaders of the greatest nation in the world. There is a lot more at stake here then just basketball.
